HI, I’M KIM - THE ARTIST BEHIND PAPER WORK DESIGN CO.
I turn meaningful places into modern, handcrafted paper art.
How it all started …
My parents separated when I was three, and by the time I was seven or eight, they'd both remarried. I split my childhood between two very different homes - one in Newport News, Virginia, the other in Charleston, South Carolina. Different rules, different extended families, different everything. I got good at adjusting fast. But what always stuck with me was how much it mattered to belong, wherever that might be at the moment.
I’ve been a crayon-obsessed creative my whole life, but things clicked in high school when I discovered graphic design. That love carried me to VCU’s Creative Advertising program (go Rams!) and into my first creative business, Little Moose Studio, where I spent ten years designing custom invitations and branding.
In 2019, life shifted and I closed that chapter - but the creative itch never fully left. Then, in early 2021, with a very empty social calendar and full art bin, I picked up my scissors and paper again. I started making paper illustrations of places that meant something to me … and then for friends … and then for friends of friends.
By October 2024, that spark had officially become Paper Work Design Co.
Now, I spend my days creating travel art, home illustrations, and custom commissions for sentimental people, thoughtful gift-givers, and anyone who believes the world is full of places worth remembering.
